Thomas Paul Founds First African Baptist Church of Boston

Reverend Thomas Paul founded the First African Baptist Church of Boston in 1805, establishing one of the earliest independent Black Baptist congregations in New England. The church provided a space for Black religious autonomy, community organizing, and abolitionist activity in Boston. Paul became a prominent figure in Black religious leadership in the Northeast.
