Valerie Daniels-Carter builds the largest Black-owned fast food franchise empire
Valerie Daniels-Carter founded V&J Foods in 1982 and built it into one of the largest Black-owned fast food franchise operations in America, eventually operating over 130 Burger King and Pizza Hut locations. She became a pioneer demonstrating how Black entrepreneurs could leverage the franchise model to build scale, and was consistently ranked among the largest Black-owned businesses in the United States.
