A master of [[black-visual-art]].

Working in bold, flat color, Jacob Lawrence told Black history in series — the lives of Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, and above all the Great Migration of Black Southerners to the North. He became one of the most celebrated American artists of the century.
