Josiah Henson

Escaped to Canada in 1830, led over 100 others to freedom, and founded the Dawn Settlement.

A conductor and refugee-community builder of the [[underground-railroad]].

After reaching Canada, Josiah Henson returned repeatedly to guide others north and built the Dawn Settlement and a school for refugees. His memoir helped inspire Harriet Beecher Stowe's "Uncle Tom's Cabin."
