The NAACP leader and anti-lynching investigator who used his light complexion to go undercover in the Jim Crow South.
A leader of the [[anti-lynching]] movement and the NAACP.
Able to "pass" as white, Walter White investigated lynchings and riots up close, publishing damning exposés. As the NAACP's executive secretary from 1931, he led its legal and legislative campaigns against lynching and segregation for a quarter century.
