Revolt Aboard the Slave Ship Robert

Enslaved Africans aboard the English slave ship Robert seized control of the vessel off the West African coast. The revolt was one of several documented mid-voyage insurrections in this period. Crew members who survived reported that the insurgents had planned the revolt for weeks, coordinating across language barriers. The uprising was ultimately suppressed with lethal force.
