Birmingham Truce Agreement Reached

After weeks of protests, the Kennedy administration brokered an agreement between Birmingham business leaders and the SCLC: lunch counters, restrooms, and drinking fountains would be desegregated; Black workers would be hired in clerical and sales positions.
