Central Park Five Sentenced on Coerced Confessions

Korey Wise, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, and Antron McCray — teens 14-16, arrested 1989 — were sentenced based on coerced confessions they later recanted. Donald Trump ran full-page death penalty ads targeting them. All were exonerated in 2002 after Matias Reyes confessed; the city paid $41 million in 2014.
