March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom
More than 250,000 people gathered at the National Mall in Washington D.C. in the largest civil rights demonstration in American history. The march, organized by A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, culminated in Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream' speech and directly pressured Congress toward the Civil Rights Act.
