White Mobs Attack School Buses Carrying Black Students in South Boston

On the first day of court-ordered busing in Boston, white mobs in South Boston hurled rocks and bottles at buses carrying Black students from Roxbury to South Boston High School. Eighteen buses were stoned, students were injured, and 18 people were arrested. The violence continued throughout the school year with near-daily confrontations.
