Walter Wallace Jr. Killed by Philadelphia Police During Mental Health Crisis

Walter Wallace Jr., 27, was shot and killed by Philadelphia police on October 26, 2020. His family had called 911 for help with his mental health crisis. Officers shot Wallace as he approached them with a knife; his mother was seen pleading with officers as shots were fired. The two officers involved, Mark McCadden and Sean Matarazzo, were charged with voluntary manslaughter in 2021. The city settled with Wallace's family for $2.5 million.
