Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the 100m, 200m, long jump, and 4x100m relay, directly refuting Adolf Hitler's claims of Aryan racial superiority. His performance remains one of the most politically significant achievements in sports history and a defining moment of Black excellence on the world stage.

After Owens's four individual gold medals, he and Ralph Metcalfe anchored the US 4x100 relay team to a world record gold, with two Jewish-American sprinters controversially removed from the squad. The relay brought the total Black American contribution to the US Berlin track team to historic prominence.
